Camilo Maria Ferreira Armond, visconde de Prados, Brazilian scientist (Barbacena, Minas Gerais State 07 August 1815 – Rio de Janeiro 14 August 1882)

Studied and worked in France as aide-préparateur under physician Marie Guillaume Alphonse Devergie (1798-1879)

His thesis, Essai sur l’etude de la vie at Academie de Medecine de Paris (1837), was acclaimed by experts

Studied the flora of Rio de Janeiro State corresponding with botanist Carl Friedrich Philipp von Martius (1794-1868)

Performed astronomical studies and published them in Tratado de Astronomia Aplicada e de Geodesia from Emmanuel Liais and in Anais do Imperial Observatório Astronômico da Corte

Authored report about 1865 solar eclipse in Comptes Rendus de Academie des Sciences de Paris and annual report of Smithsonian Institute

Won awards at International Gartenschau 1869 (Hamburgo) and World Fair 1876 (Philadelphia) due to quality of coffee produced in his farm Santa Sofia
