Julio Cezar Ribeiro de Souza, Brazilian aeronautical engineer (Vila de São José do Acará, Pará State 13 June 1843 – Belém 14 June 1887)
Discovered important principles in aeronautics
Patented the fusiform or asymmetrical form of balloons for aerial navigation (1880) and a perfected system of balloons (patented in Brazil, French, Great Britain, United States, Germany, Russia, Portugal, Belgium, Austria, Italy and others countries) in 1881
Invented the dirigible (1881), before Charles Renard and Arthur Krebs (1884)
Exposed his theories to experts in France becoming Associate member of Societé Française de Navigation Aerienne (1881)
Built Santa Maria de Belém, the greatest of world’s balloon until then (1883)
