Demonstrated that monovalent cations promote the NADH oxidase action (1969-72)
With A. Peña Díaz proposed a mechanism of K+ transport by an ATPase in yeasts (1967) and discovered a H+ATPase system related to K+ transport system (1972)
Isolated a Ca2+ carrier independently of Carafoli (1971)

Discovered and/or designed new types of specific inhibitors of enzymatic action to face parasites such as Trypanosoma cruzi
With V. Olivares Illana, A. Rodríguez Romero, I. Becker et al. demonstrated that is possible to attack Trypanosoma cruzi at interface between the two subunits in triosephosphate isomerase from Homo sapiens and that from parasite without side effects (2007)
