Guanhua Xu, Chinese geoscientist (Beijing 16 December 1941 –

Internationally recognized as a leader on remote sensing and geographical informatics

Developed techniques for digital image processing with multi-wave band and classification

Developed methodology of remote sensing integrated surveys and their mapping

Formulated the first technological regulation for a remote sensing integrated survey and mapping system for regenerative success

Headed the group that developed an integrated system for natural disaster monitoring, damage evaluation and crop assessments by using satellite and airborne remote sensing (1990s)
