Mário Paulo Autuori, Brazilian entomologist (São Paulo 10 December 1906 – São Paulo 01 July 1982)

ACHIEVEMENTS

Obtained international renown in studies concerning biology and nest structure of sauba ants species (about 60 works on sauba ants Atta sp.)

Created the first in the world ant hole exposed to public visitation (1980)

Published the first paper with predators exclusion in scientific literature

Proposed conversion factor, a formula to estimate agricultural losses due to sauba ants attacks being a ratio between cutted material mass and waste material produced by sauba ant colonies  

HONORS

Genus Autuoria Silvestri 1946 (Coleoptera)

Invited by Nobel Prize winner Karl Von Frisch to give lectures at research institutions in Germany such as Wurzburg University
