Rafael Barahona Andrade, Ecuadorian physician and surgeon (Quito 30 September 1827 – Quito 01 March 1898)

ACHIEVEMENTS  

Created Barahona draught (tonic) and Indian draught (against paludism).

Devised a continuous extension and counterextension apparatus for femur fractures (1853). This apparatus arrived France in 1894 where was commended highly by Paul Jules Tillaux.
