Biography
Ram Nath Chopra, Indian pharmacist and chemotherapist (Gujranwala, Punjab 17 August 1882 – Srinagar, Kashmir 13 June 1973)
Authored over 300 papers and a number of books
Isolated the active principles of Indian medicinal plants and worked out their pharmacological action in experimental animals like Ispaghula, Kurchi, Bael, Chaulmoogra, Babchi, Rauwolfia and Psoralea
Characterized the pharmacologically active constituents of the root of plant Rauwolfia serpentina (1940s)
Developed new lines of treatment using indigenous drugs against parasitic diseases

Chopra antimony test or urea stibamine test (for leishmaniasis)
Chopra aldehyde test for hyperglobulinemia
With J.S. Chowhan a biological assay of digitalis preparations
