Suhayl Jibra’il Jabbur, Lebanese neurophysiologist (Beirut 17 June 1931 –

Authored 107 papers and 17 book chapters

Discovered spinal-brainstem-spinal loop involved in the modulation of pain

Showed that descending motor information in the central nervous system is continuously interacting with ascending sensory information at all central levels (1970s)

With M. Bitar, N.E. Saadé & N.R. Banna showed that both presynaptic and postsynaptic inhibitory mechanism existed within the dorsal column nuclei (1981)

With S.F. Atweh & N.E. Saadé first suggested that diazepam (Valium) acted on GABA receptors in the central nervous system producing presynaptic inhibition at axo-axonic synapsis

With N.E. Saadé, J.J. Chidiac et al. A perfusion technique for the determination of pro-inflammatory mediators by intradental application of irritants. J. Pharmac. Toxic. Methods 46:125-30, 2002
