Isolated the first HIV-1 strain

Established a rapid HIV diagnosis method (1987)

First in the world to show direct evidence that the Epstein-Barr virus could induce nasopharynx cancer (1997)

Established a series of serum diagnosis methods for nasopharynx cancer

Developed an immunoenzyme test for Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) screening
