Proposed a mechanism for explaining recurrent effects and large Forbush decreases of cosmic ray intensity

Interpreted that considerable part of the changes in horizontal component of the geomagnetic field is due to the changes in the current system at the magnetopause and in the magneto-tail

Discovered that variations in the strength of cosmic rays were related to variations in solar activity

Demonstrated the significance of the study of anisotropy, within the solar system, of cosmic rays from the galaxy
