Janardan Nanda, Indian electrical engineer (Cuttack, Orissa 15 August 1937 – Delhi 16 August 2016) 

Authored over 350 papers

Innovated many powerful load flow algorithms widely referred 

Developed an innovative model for transmission loss formulation through a set of new A coefficients

Discovered a classical model based on co-ordination equations for optimum reactive power dispatch

Demonstrated the reduction of cost of governors in power plants by a design with a higher value of speed regulation parameter than used in practice

First to propose a continuous-discrete mode strategy for automatic generation control of thermal and hydro-thermal systems

First to apply bacterial foraging technique to automatic generation control of multi-area power systems
