Showed that human alcoholism displays a hereditary factor (1949). Due to this work won the Jellinek Memorial Award (1992)

Made pioneering studies about the alcoholic effects on nervous system development and the pharmacological basis of addiction

Discovered that tendency for alcoholism is a genetic factor
